Prerequisites

Graduate BEng or (preferably) MEng or MPhil in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Interest in water and environmental issues demonstrated by chosen subjects. Strong written English, fluid mechanics, hydrology. Must be eligible to work in the UK. No experience necessary, but any relevant experience viewed favourably.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to experience work as a consulting engineer in the water and environmental sectors, one of the fastest-growing areas of engineering.

You will be working in a small team of highly-skilled and experienced engineers who provide advice to developers on issues of flood risk, air quality, sustainable development and water resources.

Your daily work will involve the following:

  • Hydraulic modelling of rivers
  • Air dispersion modelling of pollutants
  • Report writing
  • CAD drawing
  • Site visits and evaluation
  • Small and large catchment hydrology
  • Flood estimation and risk assessment
  • Assessment of development sustainability
  • Exposure to the UK planning system
  • Meetings with government regulating bodies

This is rewarding work, often requiring innovative solutions to complex problems. Your skills in scientific debate, effective communication and the ability to bridge the gap between theory and reality will become polished as you mature in this role. Training is provided at all levels to help in this process. Salary dependent on experience.
